Important things to verify before you buy:
- Socket Match: The CPU and motherboard must have the exact same socket (e.g., LGA 1150 for your Zebronics H81M2.
- Chipset Generation: Even if the socket is the same, the chipset (e.g., H110, H81) must support that specific processor generation.
- RAM Type: Ensure your RAM matches the motherboard’s slots. A DDR3 motherboard cannot use DDR4 RAM, and vice versa.
- Form Factor: Match your motherboard size (ATX, Micro-ATX, or Mini-ITX) to your computer case. A large ATX board will not fit in a small case.
- Power Requirements: Check if your Power Supply Unit (PSU) has the correct connectors (like a 4-pin or 8-pin CPU power cable) and enough wattage for both the CPU and GPU.
- Expansion Slots: Verify you have enough slots for what you need, such as M.2 NVMe slots for fast storage or PCIe x16 for a graphics card.
- Check the Warranty & Return Policy: Hardware can occasionally arrive dead on arrival (DOA). Only buy from sellers with a clear return window.
- BIOS Updates: Some older motherboards need a software (BIOS) update to recognize a “newer” CPU within the same socket family. Check the manufacturer’s “CPU Support List” online to see if your specific processor is supported “out of the box”.
